This Week's Special Events!

There are two special events happening this week:

I'll be performing on Wednesday night at a fundraiser for a sculpture for Burning Man that I am helping to build. The Heart Beat Amplifier is a 6' tall abstract anatomical heart that will pulsate and vibrate along with participants' actual heart beats. That description does not do it justice.  We're having a party at San Francisco's Supper Club, and I'll be performing at the event. Find all the details here: http://www.heartbeatamplifier.com/

Practice Obssession

Alright, I am officially hooked on Tribal Fusion Belllydance (TFB). I've spent 4.5 hours today practicing at home. With the guidance my class notes and a couple of Rachel Brice dvds, and the tunes of Beats Antique, I am now feeling quite comfortable with the progress of my snake arms, Sidewinder, shimmies, and undulations. I'm really surprised and quite delighted with how I feel after practicing so long. My movements feel really fluid, as contrasted with how I felt when I started: a little stiff with an achy knee, and should muscle tightness.

NEW ADVANCED CLASS JUST ADDED!

Due to requests from some advanced hoopers, I am now offering an advanced class on the 15th, in lieu of an intermediate class.

Please check out the details here: http://herohoops.com/hoopology/classes/berkeley_advanced_hoopdance_works...

If you are an advanced hooper (or an intermediate hooper who is comfortable with your Flow), please join me for this rare opportunity to learn and have your technical questions answered.  See you there!

Metronome Hooping

I just finished a Breaks practice session.  I moved the furniture in our hotel room to create space in the center in front of a mirror to practice. I was inspired by Rich who showed me how he's been practicing breaks with a metronome on his iPhone. Yes, there is a metronome application for the iPhone. I don't have an iPhone, but I do have an internet connection, so I located this:

Reflections on Tuesday's Performance

Last night I performed with Rich at a fundraiser for Reverend Billy who is running against Michael Bloomberg for mayor of New York City.  "The Rev" is a personal friend of Ken's and mine, and Ken stepped up to spearhead last night's event, which turned out wonderfully. The event was held at the DNA Lounge in SF, a space I hadn't visited in awhile. Every time I go there I am always impressed with their lighting and sound systems.
