Hoop Camp Preparations

Hoop Camp starts tomorrow, yay!

I am very busy, putting the finishing touches on some costume merchandise that I'll be selling this weekend at the gathering. I'm very excited about the pieces that I've made. Still to do this evening: pack, repair a costume hair piece that Moon (one of my dogs) excavated from my suitcase and shredded (she sure does love feathery flower pieces), water the garden, and get some rest!

2 Fun Events in 2 Weekends!

The Symbiosis Gathering starts today outside of Yosemite. The festival is only 3 hours from San Francisco. Join us if you can!  Miss Rosie will be teaching a beginners workshop Friday morning 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

And Hoop Camp is next weekend in Santa Cruz! YAY! Miss Rosie will be teaching her Fancy Footwork workshop there on Sunday.

Video: Miss Rosie with Beats Antique at Burning Man

HERE is a video from my performance with Beats Antique at Burning Man. We did this show on Wednesday night at Opulent Temple's White Party.

Wednesday is World Hoop Day!

09.09.09 (That's September 9th, 2009) is this year's official World Hoop Day.  Events celebrating hooping will be happening simultaneously across the globe as hoopers unite and hoop for peace (or as The Hoop Path would call it, "pe*A*ce").  San Francisco is now the home of WHD founder, Hoopin' Annie, and as such, we will be hosting an extra big an' fun hoopla event. Join us at the San Francisco Civic Center from 1-9 pm. I'll be teaching a quickie class from 4:30-5 p.m., and there will be LOTS of other short classes happening. Please join us!

Miss Rosie's Upcoming Workshop Schedule

In September Miss Rosie will be traveling to teach at the Symbiosis Festival in Yosemite, CA and at Hoop Camp 2009 in Santa Cruz, CA.  In October she will make her first journey to Japan to teach in Tokyo and in Chiba at the Spin Matsuri event. Check out the details on our class calendar HERE.

Preparing For Burning Man? 3 "Must-See" Happenings

Burning Man is JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

I am SO busy making costumes, preparing performance pieces, gathering LED hoops and fire equipment, and am working diligently to see that all of the logistics information falls into place. Whew! Yes, it's that time of year again!  This burn will mark my 9th year since 2000. I can't believe it!

If you are prepparing to go (or even if you are NOT going), here are some current events and community offerings that are must-see or must-haves:

Come Join Us TONIGHT! HBA Party in SF!

I'm part of the the crew that is building the Heart Beat Amplifier sculpture for Burning Man. The HBA is an interactive sculpture that uses *your* heart beat to move an electrical current through a light, a subwoofer, and a vibrational platform.  Here's how it works: you sit in a chair, place your hands on an EKG sensor, and then...your chair vibrationally pulses; you hear your heart beat deeply resonate through an enormous speaker; you feel the warmth of a light as it pulses on your face.  Last night I got to experience it for the first time, and it is AMAZING!
